Get Noticed and Sell More Books: Using Sell Sheets and Publishers Book Flyers - Examples

Get NOTICED and Sell More Books: Use Sell Sheets or Publisher Book Flyers - Examples (at bottom)

A successful flyer includes:
  1. A picture of the book cover
  2. Prominently displayed title and author names
  3. A quote, excerpt of a review or blurb (endorsement) from a well-known person or well-respected authority
  4. Reader-benefit oriented teaser copy (“Your Life Could Be in Danger If …”)
  5. Brief one-sentence excerpts of the three or four most important chapters, instead of total contents
  6. Relevant PR or marketing plans
  7. Brief author bio
  8. Dataline: publisher name, ISBN, list price paper/hardcover and where to buy. If the book is carried by only one or two wholesalers, list them. If handled by a distributor, include the distributor’s name and 800#. If your title does not clearly and accurately describe the market for your book, be sure to include the discipline or subject area (i.e., health, medicine, self-help, etc.) with the dataline information

KDP: Ideal Book Cover Dimensions For Publishing on Amazon (Design Tips)

Size Matters: An ideal book cover for use with KDP & Amazon.com

Your book cover image should have a height/width ratio of 1.6, which means:

• A minimum 625 pixels for the shortest side and 1000 pixels for the longest side
• For optimal quality, your book cover image should be 2820 pixels on the shortest side and 4500 pixels on the longest side

Amazon accepts two image file types;
1. TIFF, or .tif(f)
2. JPEG, or .jpeg

File Compression / Size

Amazon suggests the following:

"KDP applies additional compression to images when displaying them on its website. For best results, images should be uploaded with minimal compression"

Having just done this myself, I converted my book cover image into both JPEG and TIFF formats. Keeping in mind that minimal compression is good I found the .tif / TIFF file was much larger:

TIFF Book Cover File Size: 12.9 Mb
The Exact image saved as a .jpg:
JPEG Book Cover File Size: 1.1Mb
I'm going with the TIFF file!

Using Rich Snippets On Web Pages to Enhance Your Search Results

You can mark up either individual reviews (for example, an editor's review of a product), or aggregate review information—for example, the average rating for a local business or the total number of user reviews submitted.

Use the individual Review format for pages containing a single review. For pages containing a collection of reviews, use the Review-aggregate format. If your page contains both (for example, an editor's review plus a set of user reviews), we recommend picking one format. Use the individual Review format to mark up the editor's review OR you can use the Review-aggregate format to summarize the set of user reviews. If a page contains both types of markup, Google will use the Review-aggregate markup for display.
Note: There are many possible ways to indicate review ratings—for example, stars, percentages, and various rating scales. More information about how to convey review ratings.
